Approach is a photography book by Barcelona-based photographer and climber Miguel Triano.

Shot between 2019 and 2025, the book gathers a personal archive of climbing trips, landscapes, walls, ropes, approaches, diary fragments and friends. More than a book about performance, grades or heroic climbing moments, Approach looks at the life that happens around climbing: the waiting, the driving, the bad weather, the quiet moments between attempts, and the people who slowly become part of the place.

It is a climbing book, but not in the obvious way.

Through Triano’s images, climbing appears as a shared world made of rock, movement, travel, friendship and everyday rituals. A visual record of the spaces before and after the action, and of the small communities that form around a shared obsession.

We recommend it because it sits close to the way we understand outdoor culture at Amunt: not only through performance or equipment, but through people, places, images and the stories that gather around them.
