MICROTRIP #6 CDV
Microtrip # 6
CAP DEL VERD 2.283 m
A full winter traverse from forest to ridge above Gósol. 15 km, +900 m, steady pace through changing snow and light, with Pedraforca and Cadí as constant reference.
We left Barcelona early and reached Gósol as the day was just starting. Cold air, minimal light, everything still holding the night. From there, the route opened progressively. A 15 km semi-circular line moving through forest, open terrain, and eventually the ridge leading to Cap del Verd. The first section stayed contained. Forest, shadow, stable ground. No need to push. Just find the rhythm and hold it. As we gained height, things started to shift. Light moving through the trees. Temperature rising slightly. The group spreading and coming back together without breaking pace.
Then the mountain opened. Pedraforca, Cadí, the Pyrenees—fully present, not as a view but as part of the route itself. From there, every step felt more exposed, more defined.
CONDITIONS
The day started around -2°C. Snow was firm, compact. Movement felt direct. In the forest, the cold stayed longer. The pace settled naturally. By midday, temperatures reached 8–11°C in the sun. The surface softened, especially in open sections. You could feel the difference step by step. On the ridge, the wind came in. Temperature dropped again. The terrain shifted constantly—compact snow, wind-affected sections, small variations that forced attention. Nothing dramatic, but nothing automatic either. On the descent, the mountain felt different again. Softer in some areas, still stable in others. Longer shadows, less noise, slower transitions.
15 km distance
+900 m elevation gain
Around 7 hours on the mountain
Semi-circular route
No technical sections, but no breaks in continuity either.
The effort built gradually and stayed consistent throughout the day.
No single moment defines it.
It’s the way the day holds together:
the start in the cold,
the shift of light,
the exposure of the ridge,
the descent without urgency.
You don’t separate the parts.
You stay inside it until it’s done.
Cap del Verd, start to finish.
